Grand Format wraps train—again—to promote "Cake Boss" and Amtrak
Washington, DC—September 17, 2010—The Grand Format division of ABC Imaging recently printed and installed
a wrap on five passenger cars, one café car, and two locomotives of an Acela Express train as part of Amtrak's National
Train Day celebration.
Amtrak partnered with TLC's reality TV show, "Cake Boss," to wrap the Acela train for this year's celebration. TLC contracted
ABC Imaging's Grand Format division to print and install the wraps. The train operated between Washington and Boston in August.
The wraps featured Buddy Valastro the star of "Cake Boss" and many of his tasty creations. To promote National Train
Day, Mr. Valastro created a train-themed cake for an episode that appeared on August 16.
"From logistics to production, successfully completing a train wrap project the scale of the 'Cake Boss' requires our team
to coordinate a lot of details," according to Wayne Schur, Vice President, and General Manager of Grand Format.
Grand Format's prepress staff processed the client images. The production department printed and hand-finished the panels in
five business days.
Installation was completed in three days at the Amtrak high speed rail yard in Washington, DC. Nineteen people including
Grand Format employees and contractors worked on the project.
